SOUND Incubator is an 18-week program designed for those with a promising idea for a project or concept that engages with the surrounding community. At SOUND, we believe in the power of art as a catalyst for creating change—culturally, socially, and economically. It's precisely these potentials that unfold and flourish throughout the 18 weeks.
SOUND Incubator #1 is open for applications. The application deadline is Monday, February 5, 2024.
If you have any questions about the application process or the program, feel free to reach out to SOUND's manager, Mads, at mads@soundsound.dk
When we talk about change, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. SOUND is designed to foster a community where projects like Turning Tables or Rapolitics could have originated. Your idea might address social or cultural change, or it could revolutionize the music industry in a new and better way. You likely already have a vision of how your idea can become a financially sustainable project that coexists with your artistic practice.
The program is tailored to meet you where you are with your project right now. It's a mix of workshops, mentorships, talks, guidance from experienced entrepreneurs, social events, and a public event program.
Additionally, being part of SOUND Incubator gives you the concrete opportunity to join a shared office space overlooking the water at Holmen in Copenhagen, and access podcast and recording studios. SOUND Incubator is a free offering for young creatives working with sound in various ways, whether you're a musician, sound artist, or cultural entrepreneur. You don't need a specific education to apply. What matters is your eagerness to explore new paths for your career and your consideration of the direction it's heading.
Participants are selected by a jury based on a brief application describing your project idea. SOUND Incubator #1 runs from February 26 to June 21, 2024, and all activities take place at SOUND's facilities in Holmen, Copenhagen.

As a general rule, we plan one fixed activity every Monday from 10 AM to 3 PM throughout the incubation period. We are expecting you to be able to participate here. Other relevant activities will be scheduled during the week, which we hope you'll want to join.
Moreover, it's crucial to allocate time to work on your idea independently throughout the program.
In the first week, from February 26 to March 1, we kick off with an introduction week, expecting to host daily activities. We hope you can allocate time to participate in the majority of these activities.
We expect all SOUND participants to actively take responsibility for and contribute to creating a safe and trusting environment.
All activities generally take place at SOUND's facilities on Eik Skaløes Plads in Holmen, Copenhagen.
You'll hopefully find most answers on this page, but if you're still unsure if SOUND Incubator is the right opportunity for you, the door to Mads' office, the manager of SOUND, is wide open. He can help answer all the questions you might have and open up new possibilities for you. Send him an email here.
There's room for up to 20 projects in each SOUND Incubator program. To secure a spot, send an application describing your specific project idea and telling us a bit about yourself. All applications are evaluated by a jury that selects the participants for the program.
In the selection process, the jury emphasizes the following criteria:
Value creation for people, society, or the music scene
Motivation
Musical and artistic perspectives
Diversity
You can apply for a spot individually or as a team.
Throughout the 18 weeks, a series of workshops are scheduled, all aimed at helping you bring your idea to life. You will be equipped with concrete tools and approaches to elevate your project or idea, providing a foundation for ongoing work throughout the program.
When you are a part of SOUND Incubator, you'll be assigned a mentor who will accompany you throughout the entire program. Your mentor is there to guide and advise, sharing their experience in creating viable projects. Check here to see which mentors are affiliated with SOUND
Great ideas thrive on collaboration and exchange, and there's ample space for that at SOUND Incubator. You'll have a workspace in our office overlooking the water, where you can work on your project. Within the coworking community, there will be facilitated peer-to-peer feedback sessions and shared presentations among participants.
As part of SOUND Incubator, you also gain access to professional recording facilities for music, sound, and podcasts, if relevant to your project.
SOUND is hoping to become a vibrant community where we cultivate sound, ideas, and change. Therefore, there is also a focus on social events, concerts, and networking meetings with NGOs, artists, businesses, and other cultural entrepreneurs, ensuring our network continuously expands.
